What is NEIVSA?
The New England Intercollegiate Vietnamese Student Association (NEIVSA) was founded in 1985. NEIVSA is an alliance of Vietnamese Student Associations from 8 colleges and universities in the New England area. We strive to unify the Vietnamese-American community of New England by encouraging leadership and service through numerous initiatives. NEIVSA looks to continuously maintain a network that will serve as a valuable resource for the community and Vietnamese youth. For more information, please visit newenglandivsa.org
The Vietnamese Empowerment Summit (VES) is NEIVSA's main event of the year and one of our proudest accomplishments. It is a full weekend-long conference (Fri-Sun) that has grown over the past five years by continuing to motivate and inspire attendees from across the country to be more involved in their communities while also networking with people from different walks of life. The Summit includes inspirational speakers, professional and cultural workshops, and other educational and social activities that expand on attendees' interests and professional skill sets.
What is the Seventh Annual Vietnamese Empowerment Summit (VES-7)?
Where and when is VES-7 ?
The Vietnamese Empowerment Summit begins on Friday, March 26, 2021 and ends on Sunday, March 28, 2021. This year's Summit will be held virtually on Zoom.
Who will attend VES-7?
College students and young professionals will attend VES. Many of our attendees are associated with a university affiliated Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) in the New England region, however, every year we are joined by members of VSA organizations from all over the country! If you are under the age of 18, it is necessary to fill out a minor waiver form that will be submitted during check-in.
What is this year's theme?
The theme for this year’s summit is: “The Next Step.” In what has felt like the longest year of our lives, we have experienced and stood witness to hardships that range anywhere from our individual struggles to magnified societal problems. Looking back on this time of turmoil has led us to ask the question, “When will everything go back to normal?” Furthermore, when our lives do return to normal, what will lie ahead of us? This uncharted territory is undoubtedly a journey many will soon begin, where we will have time to reflect on ourselves. Rather than adapting to new changes and moving on with our lives, this is a crucial period of time where we as a community can unite to build upon what we’ve learned, whether it be new hobbies, skills, or simply what we’ve learned from mistakes made.
Is there a dress code at the Vietnamese Empowerment Summit?
